Team Workspace

Team Workspace

Your workspace is your team - this is where all of your team’s assets should be housed, across different drives centralized in the workspace.

The workspace is also the billable unit of Shade - it is where you configure items such as SSO/SAML, global sharing permissions, payment methods, and storage. All things are related to the workspace itself.

Managing Least Permission Access

As we mentioned before - one of the core methodologies behind Shade is to make sure we follow the least-access inheritance principle. Make sure that you have only the workspace admins you need and make others members. This makes sure that only specific people will have specific access to core items such as billing, SSO/SAML, permissions, purchasing storage and more. Members have the ability to then request these changes with the administrators.

Why are there no guests in the workspace?

Guests are a drive concept and not a workspace concept. You should treat your “workspace” as and workspace admins and members internal to your company and those that need access to multiple projects and drives. You can always add multiple guests to any drives.

Workspace Admins

Workspace admins have full reign over the workspace and are able to customize and edit items such as billing, workspace general settings (logos, name, domain, etc.) and configure default sharing permissions across drives.

Workspace Members

Workspace members have the ability to create drives, request for specific members to be joined, and share drives and assets with guests, and other members

Setting up your workspace

Creating a Name

You can define the name, set the logo, and the domain. Shade does have to check for uniqueness of the name. We do not allow for name squatting, please see our terms of use for more information.

Creating Your First Drive

Once you have configured your workspace, you can invite members to your workspace and create your drive.
